Students will learn fun routines to pop music (aka 'popular' music, aka chart music) in the style best suited to the chosen song. Hip Hop dance is inspired by the dance experience of the choreographer (teacher) which can be influenced by the many forms of streetdance, jazz etc. These classes will use age appropriate music and is suitable for students of all abilities.
For the dance enthusiast who wants to learn the techniques of poppin, lockin, breakin, gliding, waving & hip hop. Students will learn the postures and foundation steps of streetdance, gain a competence in freestyling and learn to link moves together to create authentic streetdance routines. Requires maturity, dedication and commitment.
Students must have attended previous streetdance classes (or summer workshops) to join at improver intermediate or senior level. Students at beginner level may join an improver class once a basic standard has been met, providing a space is available.
MODERN THEATRE JAZZ :
Combining technical exercises, floorwork and corner work as set by the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing to build stamina, strength and dance knowledge of modern theatre jazz, as often used in musicals (film and stage), lyrical dance pieces and show pieces. Classes will include 'free work' and routines as set by the teacher to create a complete experience in this style of dance. Requires maturity, dedication and a commitment to dance.
4-5years & 5-6 years
Suitable for budding dancers (boys and girls) aged 4-6 years. An introduction to dance and movement through exploration, play, rhythm and dance sequences. A creative dance approach which develops motor skills, co-ordination and social skills. Gradually introduces the use of modern theatre dance syllabus to provide a foundation in dance training.
