MODERN THEATRE/JAZZ EXAMS: 27th MARCH
The times and details for the in-house jazz exams will be finalised this weekend. Students will have class as normal on Saturday morning/Friday eve and will come back to the studio on Saturday afternoon to perform their work in front of a dance expert. Students will later receive a certificate and report card. This is completely optional with the aim of giving students in these classes a goal and standard to work towards before moving up a level or to a different genre of dance. After Easter these classes will continue working on their show pieces. Classes involved: Friday Grade 3 Modern (4.30-5.30), Saturday Grades 1 & 2 Modern (10.45-11.30 & 11.30-12.30).
Easter Holidays commence Saturday 27th March. The Studio will reopen for classes on Monday 12th April.
Rachel Sheil has agreed to teach some dance workshops during Easter holidays. Rachel began dancing firstly at home and after taking a Transition Year dance module in East Glendalough School, she joined Hip Hop classes with FYI Dance Club and later, ballet & modern classes at Wicklow School of Dance. She has since finished school and is in her second year of a dance degree programme in University Limerick. She is hoping to study for a Masters in Dance on completion of her degree, travel to Australia to further her dance training and find employment dancing for a contemporary dance company. We were lucky to have her perform a Hip-Hop piece in the 2009 Showcase and now to lead the Easter Dance Workshops. The timetable is as follows:
TUESDAY 30TH MARCH
11AM-12PM HIP HOP OPEN TO ALL STUDENTS
12.15-1.15 CONTEMPORARY DANCE OPEN TO ALL STUDENTS
2PM-3PM CHOREOGRAPHY WORKSHOPS Suitable for students who wish to enter the
choreography competition in April. Rachel will teach different techniques of putting together a dance piece as well as offer any advice/comments to any student who have already choreographed their piece.
