Congratulations to all students who took part in the 2010 choreography competition. I was super proud of the talent present in the school! I am currently running tutorials for all the winners on Wednesdays 5-6pm in preparation for the showcase.
Auditions were held on 24th April and 9 successful dancers from across the age groups were chosen. We had our first rehearsal on 1st May and I am very excited with the progress so far. Thank you to all the dancers who attended the audition, I was really impressed with the standard of dancing on the day – definitely made the decision-making process VERY difficult!
The Summer dance camp info is now available on the website www.fyidanceclub.com. 10% off if booked before June 20th.
WORKS ON THE SOUTH QUAY
I’m sure we’re all well aware of the works taking place on the south quay. Unfortunately I have not been informed on the details of the works, but I am doing my best to find out. Parking will be restricted for up to 5 months (as I have just found out) so please allow for these extra delays. There is also talk of having a contra-flow or one-way-system put in place!!! I am advising all students to remain inside the building until they are collected, and encouraging as many students as possible to walk from school/home where possible.
The countdown is on! Just 4 weeks remain until the end-of-year showcase! Just a reminder, the showcase will take place on the evenings of the 29th & 30th May 2010 in Fatima Hall, Dominican convent School, Wicklow Town. Students will be notified next week which day they will be performing on. Please be prepared to give up a full day for dress rehearsals on the day of the show. Tickets will be available at the door at price €8 for adults and €5 for students/OAPs. I am hoping to start the show at 6.30pm (doors open 6pm)to accommodate our younger students. Each show should last approximately 90 minutes which includes a short interval. Students and family members are welcome to watch both shows as the content will differ between the shows. The show will also be recorded and DVDs will be available to order on the night and will need to be paid for upfront. In past years we have been charged €20 per DVD, though I am shopping around for a better deal.
Costume fittings will take place the week of the 10th May so I urge each student to attend (all) classes to insure they are fully prepared for the show. Here’s hoping this will be the best show yet!! Each student will receive a note that week stating which costume items they will need to bring themselves on the night. Make sure all items are named and in a bag, which should also be named. Oh, and keep practising those winning smiles!!!!
